Why bereaved clients might be vulnerable
Course content
Emma will be speaking about various models and theories of grief to help the practitioner understand what their bereaved clients might be going through and how it might impact their instructions and behaviour. The talk will highlight why bereaved clients may be adults at risk of abuse, as well as why people who are grieving may act out of character or have mental blocks when faced with certain matters. Emma will share analogies that are sometimes used to explain grief, as well as highlighting comments from Emma’s experience as a widow that she finds do and don’t help the bereaved.
About the speaker
Emma Gray set up Rainbow Hunting after her Royal Marine husband died of oesophageal cancer in 2016 with a mission to help others ensure that painful times are made just a bit easier. She’s retrained as a Grief and Adulting coach & is using her unique mix of over 15 years as a Wills and Probate solicitor, more recent mental health knowledge from retraining to be a counsellor and her lived experience as a widow to help others going through bereavements or facing a recent diagnosis. Through workshops, courses and one-on-one sessions, Emma helps clients transform from overwhelmed and stressed to calm and organised by facing up to tricky conversations and preparing for death, illness and grief. The Rainbow Hunting website has a wealth of articles on practical and emotional issues and a Directory of useful charities and organisations that can support others wanting to be well prepared for difficult times.
