Aims:
To provide an explanation for practitioners unfamiliar with the debt and charge schemes used to implement the NRB discretionary trust before the advent of the transferable NRB

Outcomes:

Appreciate why the debt and charge schemes were drafted in Wills
Decide whether to implement the NRB discretionary trust in estates today or whether to appoint out the discretionary trust

What was the purpose of adding in debt and/or charge scheme wording?
The impact of using the debt scheme or the charge scheme
The introduction of SDLT and its impact
The introduction of the RNRB and its £2 million threshold
Should you keep the NRB DT or dismantle it?
