Cate Searle

Head of Community Care Law at Martin Searle Solicitors

Cate has specialised in community care and public law casework for the last 22 years. She is co-founding director of Martin Searle Solicitors in Brighton where she leads a team of nine community care lawyers, with clients and casework across England.

In addition to acting for individuals and families, Cate advises and represents a number of Professional Deputy firms and Personal and Catastrophic Injury litigators. Cate has written for a number of publications and regularly contributes expert opinion to social care media coverage, including Radio 4 File on Four and the Law Society Private Client magazine.

Cate’s areas of specialism include challenging erroneous care planning and funding decisions by Health and Social Services, including NHS CHC eligibility; Court of Protection health and welfare litigation; mental capacity and safeguarding adults at risk; and Expert Reports on statutory funding in PI claims.
